I am a curious and compassionate individual who recently graduated with a degree in Political Science. I'm passionate about current policy issues and societal change. Outside of academics, I enjoy building things - from battlebots, assembling my own gaming PC to building top-tier developer workstations for WCG.
I founded and hosted a Super Smash Bros. Twitch channel that fostered weekly community game nights.
I have a strong sense of family - stepping up to care for my grandparents and loved ones, including being their "tech support" for computers and internet applications.
Whether skiing, camping, or setting up a tech network, I bring dedication, enthusiasm, and empathy to everything I do.
Experience
2024, 2025
The Steer Friends organization serves a diverse group of individuals including those living with cerebral palsy, autism, genetic and seizure disorders. I worked in a team of over 50 volunteers. In my role, I helped in the set-up and tear-down of the car show event site, and registered participants bringing their classic cars to the show.
2024, 2025
WCG:ITX develops .NET applications that support e-Commerce parcel logistics, their solutions route 2M parcels monthly.
Working with their senior consultants I built custom PC workstations using the fastest CPUs, disk drives and memory available. I installed and configured Windows, Visual Studio and SQL Server Management Studio.
It was great to work with some of the best PC technology available.
These workstations helped WCG onboard new consultants and get them working right away.
2022, 2023
I was a member of the grounds crew team that prepared the golf course for daily play.
Later, I worked with 3 others managing the driving range, ensuring members always had golf balls for practice.
Golfers are early risers, and my shifts frequently started as early as 5:30 am
Projects
Super Smash Bros Twitch Channel
I created a professional online Twitch channel (daks_7) and perfected the use of OBS video streaming. The channel ran weekly and attracted over 110 followers. In each broadcast, attendees could challenge one another to games, and others could watch and comment in real time.
BotBrawl
Similar to the famous TV show (but on a much smaller scale!) I built my own BattleBot, and participated in 2 local battlebot competitions at BotBrawl Ontario in the under 3lb weight class
The competitions are intense and "to the death", and require that your robot is ready for battle, in several rounds of competition. Success requires planning, and having parts on hand for rapid repairs between rounds.
I enjoyed being part of the Battle Bot community, and appreciated their help getting started.
